In Indonesia, the temple is known as Hindu and Buddhist culture which has been present a long ago. Not only cultural heritage but also a religion in Indonesia. Namely the Mendut Temple.

Mendut Temple is located in Mendut Village, Mungkid. From Jogjakarta, you only need about 2 hours driving away to get to this temple or about 2 km from Borobudur Temple. When you are in Magelang area, you will be treated to some crafts carving sculpture stones along the way. That indicates you will be closer to the location of the temple. When you look at the map, the location of these three Buddhist temples forms a straight line from north to south.

Mendut Temple word is consists of Venu, Vana, Mandira which means the temple is in the middle of a bamboo forest. The early history of Mendut temple still has several versions and the truth is still uncertain. The famous historian named J.G. de Casparis explained that the Mendut temple was built during the Syailendra dynasty in 824 AD. This was based on the stories of Karangtengah Prasati per year 824. Mendut Temple has an older age than Borobudur Temple, one of the largest and most famous temples in the world that had entered the 7 Wonders of the World.

This temple is believed to be a temple to ask a descent during the Buddhist period in Indonesia. Not only that, the temple which has now undergone a restoration was once visited by foreign tourists who prayed for a cure for their illness. This temple has 3 statues. Where the names of the three statues are the Cakyamuni Buddha or Vairocana Dyan Statue, Avalokitesvara or Lokesvara Buddha Statue, and Vajrapani Bodhisattva Statue. On some walls, there are relief carvings such as the walls of the Borobudur temple. It's just telling a different thing.

In general, Mendut Temple has a square shape. Mendut Temple has an overall building height of 26.4 m. The body part of the temple is on a stone with a height of 2 m. On the surface of the stone has a wide hallway. On the walls of the Mendut Temple, there are approximately 31 panels that display some story reliefs, tendrils of tendrils and carvings of flowers that indicate the pattern of the Mendut. There are so many locations that you can make your photos taken. Many people around are selling souvenirs that you can buy as souvenirs, such as key chains, table decorations in the form of temples, ashtrays, paintings, calendars and so on.
